Tutoring By Appointment Home
The Undergraduate Tutorial Center provides two types of tutoring by appointment during fall and spring semesters. To use either program you must first attend a 30-minute orientation which explains the center's policies and allows you to submit an application. If you are new to the program, please attend an orientation. Students who used tutoring by appointment in previous semesters may submit an online application.
Weekly assigned tutoring is for students who are willing to commit to being tutored two hours every week. This option gives students the advantage of meeting with the same tutor throughout the semester. Students may request a Weekly assigned tutor in one subject and a Sign-up tutor in one additional subject .
Sign-up tutoring is for students who want the flexibility to schedule appointments as needed. Sign-up tutors are generally the most experienced tutors that work for the Undergraduate Tutorial Center. Sign-up appointments may be made via phone (919-515-3163) or in person (Park Shops 101) once a current application is on file with the office.
Note: During summer sessions, only individual weekly assigned tutoring is available. The orientation is waived for summer requests. Please complete an online tutoring request form or call 515-3163 for further assistance.
IMPORTANT! Our research shows that students need to work with a tutor seven to twelve hours per semester in order to see a significant difference in course grade. Depending on the course and your level of preparation, you may need to spend more hours with a tutor.
