ABOUT DUAP

Policy Support

One of DUAP's most important roles within the University community is to maintain and update procedures related to academic policy and processes. For example, DUAP educates students on NC State's Code of Conduct and serves as the link between the Office of Student Conduct and the Provost's Office in matters of academic integrity and appeals. We are also the administrative link between Academic Affairs and the Department of Athletics. In addition, we provide primary administrative support for a number of committees that disseminate information on University policy while encouraging faculty and staff to share best practices.

  • General Education Requirements Task Force is charged with conducting a complete review of NC State University's General Education Requirements (GER). For more information: http://www.ncsu.edu/uap/committees/gertf/index.html
  • The Council on Undergraduate Education promotes the development, evaluation and revision of relevant University regulations such as NC State's General Education Requirements. It also develops guidelines for the qualitative review of courses and curricula portfolios and creates procedures for evaluating general education programs, consults with faculty at the college and department level on preparing portfolios for review and advises the Dean for Undergraduate Academic Programs. • The University Courses and Curricula Committee reviews academic program proposals, develops policies and procedures and prepares guidelines for the qualitative review of portfolios submitted as part of the undergraduate curriculum review process. This committee also consults with college deans and curriculum committees, and is available to consult with faculty at the college and department level on preparing portfolios for review. • Undergraduate Program Review Steering Council   develops guidelines for comprehensive review portfolios and annual reports; establishes, maintains, and monitors the University-level "rules of engagement" for both on-going and periodic program reviews; and evaluates the undergraduate program review process.  For more information: Allen DuPont, allen_dupont@ncsu.edu.
  • The Undergraduate Academic Operations Council promotes collaboration among academic and support offices and encourages efficient planning and evaluation of policy and procedure implementation. It advises the University Council on Academic Policy and Procedure as well as the Provost's office, often investigating matters regarding issues pending before either body. It may also review and investigate issues brought to its attention by other members of the NC State community. For more information: John Ambrose, john_ambrose@ncsu.edu.
  • Advisory CounCil for Enhancing Student Success focuses on issues relating to student academic success, retention, and graduation.  The Council seeks to propose ways of integrating current campus initiatives, regulations, or programs to achieve positive student outcomes.  The Council is open to broad campus participation and actively seeks input by students, faculty, and administrative staff.  For more information:  http://www.ncsu.edu/uap/committees/access/
