University Partnerships
DUAP works with a number of on- and off-campus partners committed to supporting excellence in undergraduate education at NC State. Through each of these collaborative relationships, we work to advance the opportunities and successes of undergraduates at the University.
Currently, our partnerships include joint ventures with:
All NC State Colleges — We work with every college at NC State on a variety of initiatives. For example, through New Student Orientation, we help students acclimate to the University and the culture of its colleges, while our First Year College program helps introduce students to the curriculum and opportunities of many different colleges. Other student programs provide additional advice and support that crosses traditional college boundaries in order to enhance the overall educational experience for undergraduates.
Employers — As a University, NC State has long emphasized real world experiences as a key component of a useful education. DUAP supports this mission by forging partnerships with employers all across the nation through its Cooperative Education program. This program is the largest of its kind in America. It offers hundreds of students a year the chance to explore the opportunities and cultures of the workplace while providing employers with needed manpower and a firsthand look at potential future leaders.
University Housing — DUAP partners with University Housing to offer students a number of living/learning opportunities during their undergraduate years. The First Year College program, housed in Tucker and Owen Residence Halls, offers students on-site access to special advisors as well as the support of their freshmen peers. The Honors Village, centrally located in the heart of campus, provides academically-gifted students with special residential facilities, state-of-the-art research and support resources, opportunities to participate in social and sports events that create a balanced life and a variety of special academic offerings. Other joint ventures with Housing fund tutoring in residence halls and other support services.
Office of Student Conduct — DUAP shares administrative responsibility for managing student academic conduct with the Office of Student Conduct, primarily by handling some of the appeals procedures for academic matters on behalf of the Provost.
Department of Athletics — DUAP is the primary source of academic support for student athletes. Our Academic Support Programs for Student Athletes and the Provost Roundtable both further the academic goals of NC State athletes and help individual athletes meet college and conference requirements while increasing their success in the classroom. These services are provided to both scholarship and walk-on athletes in all sports.
Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning — DUAP is deeply committed to faculty development and supporting them in their quest for excellence. Several of DUAP's efforts revolve around this commitment, including our policy support committees and resources. Our support allows the faculty to attain high educational standards while assuming an appropriate role in shaping the overall undergraduate experience at NC State.
