Major/Program Footnotes:

Students must receive a C- or better in all courses used to satisfy requirements listed in notes 7-17 below.

Students may use no more than four 200-level courses to satisfy requirements listed in notes 7-17 below.

Students must take at least 12 hours of courses in FL, CL, GRK, LAT, or cross-listed ENG/FL courses.  Students must take at least 18 hours of ENG or cross-listed ENG/FL courses.

**An asterisked course may satisfy a requirement listed in notes 7-16 below only when its content is appropriate to that requirement. Appropriateness will be determined by the English Department, and changes to the degree audit will be made manually.

***Students may use only one FL_ 202 course to satisfy requirements in notes 8-12 below.

 

1 Foreign Language.  Proficiency at the 201 level is required.  a. Students with high school credit or other knowledge of French, German, Latin, or Spanish must take a placement test to determine the appropriate level for their first course. b.  Students who place into FL  _ 202 or above have met the language requirement and are eligible to receive 3 hours of advanced placement credit by enrolling in the course into which they are placed and earning a grade of “C-“ or better on the first attempt.  c.  FL 202 is recommended.  NOTE:  FL 101 will not count towards graduation unless in a language other than the one used to fill the University’s FL 102 proficiency requirement.

2 History. Two 200-level courses are required in History, one each from Groups I and II.  Group I:  AFS 275, 276, HI 207, 215, 216, 233, 263, 264, 270, 275, 276.  Group II:  HI 205, 208, 209, 210, 221, 222, 251, 252.

3 Math. Choose 6 credits from the GEP Mathematical Sciences list (at least one course with an ST or MA prefix).

4 Social Science. Four 3-credit courses from at least three of the following areas:  ANT, ARE, EC, PS, PSYCH, SOC.  Also ENG 210, GEO 220, IDS 401, or STS 402.  Six cr. must come from GEP Social Sciences list. 12 credits.

5 Arts and Letters.
