Students must receive a C- or better in any course used to satisfy requirements listed in notes 7-13 below.

**Any asterisked course listed in notes 7-12 below may satisfy a group requirement only when its content is appropriate to that requirement. Appropriateness will be determined by the English Department, and changes to the degree audit will be made manually.

1 Foreign Language.  Proficiency at the 201 level is required. a. Students with high school credit or other knowledge of French, German, Latin, or Spanish must take a placement test to determine the appropriate level for their first course. b.  Students who place into FL  _ 202 or above have met the language requirement and are eligible to receive 3 hours of advanced placement credit by enrolling in the course into which they are placed and earning a grade of “C-“ or better on the first attempt.  c.  FL 202 is recommended.  NOTE:  FL 101 will not count towards graduation unless in a language other than the one used to fill the University’s FL 102 proficiency requirement.

2 History Two 200-level courses are required in History, one each from Groups I and II.  Group I: AFS 275, 276; HI 207, 215, 216, 233, 263, 264, 270, 275, 276.  Group II:  HI 205, 208, 209, 210, 221, 222, 251, 252.

3 Math Choose 6 hours from the GEP Mathematical Sciences list (at least one with MA or ST prefix)

14 Residency Requirement.  A minimum of 15 hours in the major at NC State.

15 Grade point average requirement: A minimum GPA of 2.0 overall and in the major is required.

16 A maximum of 12 hours of free electives may be taken for credit only.
