Major/Program Footnotes: Students must receive a C- or better in any course used to satisfy requirements listed in notes 7-13 below. **Any asterisked course listed in notes 7-12 below may satisfy a group requirement only when its content is appropriate to that requirement. Appropriateness will be determined by the English Department, and changes to the degree audit will be made manually. 1 Foreign Language. Proficiency at the 201 level is required. a. Students with high school credit or other knowledge of French, German, Latin, or Spanish must take a placement test to determine the appropriate level for their first course. b. Students who place into FL _ 202 or above have met the language requirement and are eligible to receive 3 hours of advanced placement credit by enrolling in the course into which they are placed and earning a grade of “C-“ or better on the first attempt. c. FL 202 is recommended. Two three-credit courses. Students must select courses from two different areas. 10 Literature before 1800. One three-credit course from one of the following lists: 11 Literature after 1800. One three-credit course from one of the following lists: 13 LWR Restricted Electives—Students must take 15 hours of LWR electives in addition to the core requirements. The 30-hour majors must include at least one course in each of the goal categories listed below. Courses that appear in more than one category may count for two (but no more than two) categories. 15 credits. At least one LWR Restricted Elective must be at the 400 level or above. Linguistics, Rhetoric, or Writing Practice (whichever is not taken to satisfy #9 above). 14 Residency Requirement.
