Major/Program Footnotes:

1. Design Thinking D 100, D 101 - 4 credit hours are required in the first year of Design Studies.
2. Design Culture I, Design Context II - 6 credit hours are required in the first year of Design Studies.
3. Basic Drawing ADN 281 is required. In addition two more courses (6 credit hours) in Design Foundations are required and may be selected from the following: ADN 111, ADN 112, ADN 414
4. International Experience (6 credit hours) is required. This may be a Design Studio worth 6 credit hours (when available), or two 3-credit-hour advised electives.

Major Advised electives

12. A total number of 9 credit hours of advised electives are required when pursuing the Design Studies with the NPS concentration. The Advised electives are divided into three units: Application, History and Theory. From each of these units a minimum of one course (3 credit hours) must be selected.  See Design Studies Advised elective List.

Non-Profit Studies: When pursuing Design Studies with an option in Non-Profit Studies 15/16 credit hours will be taken from the Non-Profit curriculum list. Talk to your adviser about applying for the minor.

13. PS 203: Intro to Nonprofit, HI 380: History of Nonprofit and COM 466: NP Leadership are required Nonprofit cores and Prerequisite for Nonprofit curriculum and a grade of C- or better is required for all coursework in the Minor.
14. The selection of one course (3 credit hours) from PS 202, PS 310 or SOC 311 will satisfy both a GEP SOC SCI and a Nonprofit elective.
15. An internship experience is required for Nonprofit Studies. The selections are NPS 490, or Departmental Internships: COM 496, ENG 350, PS 391, PS/SOC 413, PSY 495, SW 490 or Design Studies Internship DS 494. The internship host must be approved by your NPS Advisor. A C- or better is required.
16. NPS 498: Capstone seminar is required the semester following completion of the internship requirement.
17. Minimum grade of C- required.

To complete the requirements for graduation and the General Education Program, the following category credit hours and co-requisites must be satisfied.

    Choose from the University approved GEP Humanities course list or the following course(s) if completed as part of the Major requirements may fulfill part or all of this requirement:  3 hours are fulfilled by the HI requirement in the Major. Choose 3 credit hours from University approved GEP Humanities Course list in a discipline other than History (HI).
  3. Social Sciences (6 credit hours selected from two different disciplines/course prefixes)
    Choose from the University approved GEP Social Sciences course list or the following course(s) if completed as part of the Major requirements may fulfill part or all of this requirement: PS203 satisfies 3 hours of the Social Science requirement. Select a 3 hours course from the GEP Social Sciences list in a discipline other than PS.
