CHARGE
The Council is tasked to:

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of a functional university student success network that seeks to integrate all segments of the university directly or indirectly responsible for undergraduate students;
  • Ensure that each participating unit identifies its role, sets objectives for its focus on student success, and identifies measurable outcomes that provide information for ongoing improvement.
  • Share broadly information about successful retention efforts and identify student success best practices; and where appropriate
  • Propose new regulations, programs, and initiatives to improve student retention and graduation rates.

MEMBERSHIP EXPECTATIONS
Each member of ACCESS has been identified by the academic dean, or the division administrator, as the person to whom they turn for information pertinent to student retention and success. Therefore, the expectation for each member is to broadly represent the interest of your college or unit to the Council and the Council's interest, focus, and direction to your college or unit.

Generally, the expectations of each ACCESS member are to:

  • Understand and promote the actions and purposes of ACCESS.
  • Articulate matters that address improvement and enhancement of student success programs and initiatives.
  • Actively participate in subgroups established to address policy barriers and other institutional obstacles.
  • Articulate a success network within your college or unit in which you share resources and services for student success with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Become familiar with campus resources and colleagues that support student success.
