2-2.3.1 ELIGIBILITY TO ENROLL AS AN UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES STUDENT (UGS)

This classification is used by persons who have not obtained a baccalaureate degree and who wish to take courses but who are not currently admitted to a degree program. To be eligible to register as an Undergraduate Studies student, a person should either:

 1. have a high school diploma or resident General Educational Development certificate; not have been suspended from any college or university, including NC State within the last three years; and not be a degree candidate at NC State; or

 2. be a high school student who has been recommended by an appropriate high school official and approved by the Undergraduate Admissions Office to take lower level courses through the established Academic Enrichment Opportunities Program.

For Undergraduate Studies students, the maximum course load is two courses plus a physical education course in a regular semester or summer session. All courses taken for credit will appear on the student's transcript.
