Determination of a student's need is based on estimated educational costs and a consideration of the family's financial strength--family income, family asset holdings and debts, and other resources that may be available for use, such as G.I. Bill benefits , Vocational Rehabilitation, etc. Enrolled students must reapply each year for continued aid. Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year will enable students to be considered for all aid for which they are eligible while attending NC State.
The FAFSA should be submitted to the processing office as soon after January 1 as possible. Preference is given to applications submitted by March 1 for the fall semester and by October 1 for the spring semester. In addition, all continuing students shoul d file a Institutional Financial Aid Application with the campus Financial Aid Office. Awards may be made by combining two or more forms of assistance, particularly where the estimated need is large.
