6-7 TWO DEGREES AND DOUBLE MAJORS
Students who have satisfactorily completed the requirements for more than
one bachelor's degree may, upon the recommendation of their deans, be awarded
two bachelor's degrees at the same or at different commencement exercises.
To earn two degrees students register in one college or department and,
with the cooperation of the second college or department, work out their
program to cover the requirements for both. Students must file an
approved Double Majors Only Curriculum Change Form (See Appendix
W) with the Department of Registration and Records. An Application
for Degree Form must be submitted for each degree.
In addition, there are pre-approved double-degree programs; one example
of "Two Degrees" is the Joint Humanities and Social Sciences Engineering
Program. Some students may want to combine a Bachelor of Science
in engineering with either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in
the humanities or social sciences. When the two courses of study
are planned sufficiently early to optimize the student's time, the double
degree program can be completed in five years. Those interested should
contact the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs in the College of
Engineering and the Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences.
For information on the difference between a double major and a double degree
program in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, call 515 2467.
