10-1.3 NCSU BOOKSTORES

PUBLICATION SERVICE
By authorization of the Consolidated Board of Trustees, NCSU Bookstores will  provide publishing services and distribution for faculty and department authored publications, commonly referred to as course packs, required for course use at this university. NCSU Bookstores contracts with local and on-campus copy shops to provide the services necessary to meet the specific faculty or departmental needs for all course pack production. Prices charged to the students for such publications are kept at a minimum figure consistent with sound educational objectives. When reasonable and applicable, royalties on sales may be paid to authors or departments for the preparation of original work. Royalties must be discontinued if the publication is used in an unmodified form beyond a 3-year period.

Faculty and departments wishing to utilize this service should contact the Book Division Manager of NCSU Bookstores.

TEXTBOOK ORDERS
Textbook orders must be received by NCSU Bookstores no later than April 5 for fall semester, October 5 for spring semester, and March 15  for both summer sessions. Instructors are asked to provide their departmental textbook liaison with the following information:  Course and section number, ISBN, copyright, edition, title, author, publisher, semester of use, whether the text is required or optional, whether the adoption is a textbook or a course pack, whether cloth or paper is acceptable, and the anticipated course enrollment.

DESK COPIES
Faculty are encouraged to send directly to publishers any requests for complimentary desk copies of adopted textbooks. NCSU Bookstores is unable to provide complimentary desk copies, but will lend a textbook and charge it on a 60-day departmental invoice.

If the requested desk copy is received from the publisher within 60 days, the textbook department will accept it as a replacement and cancel the invoice. If the publisher’s copy arrives after the invoice has been paid, the textbook department will accept it and refund your payment.

Publisher’s desk copy request forms are available from NCSU Bookstores.

SPECIAL ORDERS AND SERVICES
If there is special equipment or supplies which instructors would like to make available to students, the NCSU Bookstore will include them in our stock.  The Merchandise Division Manager and buyers are very willing to work with instructors. Please feel free to contact them whenever they may be of service.
