MKE, Business and Marketing Education: To transfer from another NC State major, students must have an overall GPA of 2.5. MSL, Middle Grades Education: Language Arts and Social Studies: To transfer from another NC State major, students must have an overall GPA of 2.5 and GPA of 2.5 in the teaching field. A current student should provide contact information, a letter describing the reason for interest in teaching, and a copy of the current degree audit.
First semester freshmen may not transfer into the department.
Second semester freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors must have an overall grade point average of 2.5 (GPA) and GPA of 2.5 in their teaching field (math). Also, juniors and seniors must have 8 semester hours of calculus (MA 141 and MA 241) and 4 semester hours of science. MSD, Middle Grades Education: Mathematics and Science Dual: Second semester freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 and GPA of 2.5 in the teaching field of science and mathematics. In addition, course requirements are: science (4 hrs.), calculus (6-8 hrs). MSS, Middle Grades Science Education: Second semester freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 and GPA of 2.5 in the teaching field of science. Course requirements are: science (8 hrs.), calculus (3-4 hrs). MED, Secondary Mathematics Education: Second semester freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 and a GPA of 2.5 in the teaching field (math). Also, juniors and seniors must have 8 semester hours of calculus (MA 141 and MA 241) and 4 semester hours of chemistry or physics. SED, Secondary Science: Second semester freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 and GPA of 2.5 in the teaching field of science. In addition, course requirements are: science (8 hrs.), calculus (3-4 hrs). TED, Technology Education: Students may choose an option: licensure or non-licensure. To transfer students must have a grade point average (GPA) as follows: freshmen, sophomores, and first semester juniors an overall GPA of 2.25.
