June 1                  Campus Laboratory Safety Orientation, 1:30 pm, Walnut Room

June 1                  Welcome Reception, 3:00-5:00 pm, Talley Ballroom

June 1                  Group Picnic at Michael Paesler’s home

June 2                  Natural History Museum - Behind the Scenes Tour

·        Students should meet at 9:15 am at Bagwell Hall to carpool downtown

 

June 5                  GRE Review Session – Introduction and trial exam info  7-8:30 pm, 201 Harrelson Hall

·        Free GRE practice test instructions

 

June 7                  Presentation on the Graduate School Process  9-11 am in Talley Ballroom

·        2 Speakers and Panel – "Applying for Funding", "Making Yourself a Better Candidate", and "Graduate Student Question and Answer Panel"

 

June 16                Hiking at Umstead Park , meet Dr. Loek Helminck

 

June 20                Research Ethics Workshops, 8:30 – 10:00 am

June 26                Presentation on “How to Write a Statement of Purpose",  9-11 am, Talley Ballroom

July 2                   Poster Training Session I – workshop for all students, 2215 Williams Hall at 3:00 to 5:00 pm

July 6                   Durham Bulls Ballgame – 7:00 pm game with fireworks at the end

July 26                 Bridging Symposium for Graduate Students, 1-5 pm, McKimmon Center

·        Opportunity for undergraduate students to see posters and hear oral presentations

 

August 2               NCSU Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium
