Students participating in this program will:
· work on independent projects with faculty mentors
· participate in weekly research discussion sessions with faculty and students
· meet and talk to ECE faculty from different specializations
· attend seminars by engineers from local industry
· tour laboratories of different specialization areas
· participate in activities of the NCSU Summer REU program
· visit industrial labs in the Research Triangle area (such as IBM, Cisco, Nortel, Red Hat, EMC and others)
· present their research results at the NC State Undergraduate Research Symposium in August
· publish results from their research in a refereed journal or present them at a conference
· attend seminars of purpose, emphasizing the importance of achieving a diverse culture in science and engineering
Who Should Apply:
The program welcomes independent, motivated rising seniors majoring in electrical and computer engineering. Women, underrepresented minorities and students from colleges and universities without significant research opportunities are strongly encouraged to apply. The applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions. A current GPA of 3.3 - 4.0 or above is required.

· Stipend: $4000
· Travel Support: up to $500
