2011-2012
Awards of up to $450 will be given to current undergraduate students whose research/creative project has been approved for presentation at a national conference. Only one undergraduate student for each project will be supported. Travel must take place from August 2011-June 2012. The student must first submit a request for funding for travel to present his/her research that has been accepted at a national conference. Request for funding should be done at least one month prior to the event! Included in the request should be the following documents in a digital format:
-
Description of the conference including location, projected expenses, and title of the conference.
-

Awardees will be notified of their award within two weeks of application submission.
Although registration and airfare/train costs can be paid in advance by The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR), the remainder of costs incurred will only be given after the travel has taken place (reimbursement for miles driven, lodging, and other expenses; no food costs can be reimbursed). If the student has already paid these items, then they can only be reimbursed after the event. Only domestic travel will be supported. Note that costs that exceed the OUR’s dollar limit must be paid by the student traveler and/or the mentors funds. The source of this funding should be described in the request. Within 10 days after the event, submit for reimbursement the receipts that indicate full payment was made (zero balance due) and a photocopy of the student’s printed abstract from the conference. Include the boarding pass stub from the return flight, bus or train. The poster or the last oral presentation slide must acknowledge receipt of this travel award from The Office of Undergraduate Research, NC State University; similarly, a grant award to conduct research derived from the OUR must also be acknowledged.
