Service Learning Opportunities
  • AMERICORPS VISTA & PUBLIC ALLY, Monday February 28, 5pm in 3121 Talley Student CenterAmeriCorps VISTA and Public Ally are 2 national programs devoted to service and helping communities.  College graduates are selected to work for a year in a non-profit agency or at a university.  In return you receive a stipend and earn an educational award that can be applied to college loans or used for graduate school.  You will receive information about positions in the Triangle, NC and how to research position throughout the nation.  NC State has one VISTA position available in the CSLEPS office.   Application process begins in March ... now is the time to think about this opportunity should you be graduating this May.  NCSU's current VISTA will lead this session.

  • NC ACTS Scholarship, Monday March 21, 5pm in 3121 Talley Student CenterNC ACTS stands for North Carolina - Activating Citizenship Through Service.  If you like to volunteer ... why not earn some money along the way.  Students who are selected for this scholarship agree to do 300 hours of community service during the 2005 - 2006 academic year will receive a $1000 educational award from AmeriCorps which can be applied to college tuition, loans or used for graduate school.   Applications will be passed out and information given about the selection process. We will have a minimum of 10 scholarships to award.

  • International SUMMER Service - Learning programs for 2005. The International Partnership for Service-Learning and Leadership Programs (IPSL) unite academic study and volunteer service, giving students a fully integrated study abroad experience.

    2005 summer programs will be held in:

    * India (Calcutta)

    * Jamaica (Kingston)

    * Mexico (Guadalajara)

    * Philippines (Manila)

    * Russia (Moscow)

    * Lakota/Kakota Nation (South Dakota, USA)

    IPSL also has fall, spring and year long programs in the following countries should you want to investigate and plan ahead:
