Undergraduate Tutorial Center
Where Successful Students Meet. Are your classes presenting a challenge? The Undergraduate Tutorial Center (UTC) offers a variety of free academic assistance to undergraduates enrolled for credit in many 100- and 200- level classes, including individual tutoring by appointment and drop-in services. Supplemental Instruction (SI) leaders provide a series of weekly help sessions for students in selected large lecture classes. Writing and Speaking Tutorial Services (WSTS) provides assistance to anyone in the University community who needs help on writing or speaking assignments. The goal of all UTC programs is to promote undergraduate students' responsibility for their own academic ahievement. The UTC also hires and trains academically successful students as peer tutors. Students may become tutors for the UTC if they have an established GPA of 3.0 or better and at least a B+ in the course(s) they wish to tutor. All new tutors are required to take ECI 210, Introduction to College Tutoring, during the first semester of employment. Both the training opportunities and tutoring experiences offered result in more profound intellectual and personal growth for both tutors and tutees. Tell Me More |
