Some of the country’s brightest high school seniors have been awarded Caldwell Scholarships and Merit Awards from North Carolina State University for the 2001-02 academic year.
Eleven top-ranked students have been named John T. Caldwell Alumni Scholars, one of NC State’s most prestigious university scholarships. The award carries an annual stipend of $5,000 for in-state students and $10,000 for out-of-state students. Including extra benefits, the Caldwell Alumni Scholarship -- which was established in 1975 to honor the late Dr. John Tyler Caldwell, who served as chancellor of the university from 1959 to 1975 -- totals more than $20,000 for in-state students, and $40,000 for out-of-state students.
NC State Merit Awards recipients are chosen on the basis of outstanding academic records, active participation in school and community activities, and their potential for academic success at the university. Students who were selected will receive scholarships for their 2001-2002 freshman year. All of the scholarships are renewable and will provide stipends throughout the students’ undergraduate studies.
Following, listed by county, are the 2001 John T. Caldwell Alumni Scholars, their parents’ names, addresses and biographical information. The Merit Award winners are listed by scholarship and alphabetically by city of residence.
