What is the Office of Public Affairs?
return to the Office of Public Affairs

The Office of Public Affairs helps NC State accomplish its mission by building sound relationships with the university's constituencies and public groups. The office focuses its efforts on:

  • projecting the distinctive benefits and accomplishments of NC State
  • monitoring and responding to public issues and perceptions
  • involving alumni, faculty, staff, students and constituents in reaching the university's goals
  • helping the university recruit and retain students, secure public and private resources and garner support.

Organization
The office is part of the university's division of University Advancement (the other offices are Alumni Relations, Development and Advancement Services). It is headed by an associate vice chancellor of public affairs and is divided into three functional areas:

  • Marketing and Creative Services provides strategy and creative development of marketing communications that support NC State University and its many units. Includes the creation of web, print, electronic and video communications. and manages the use of NC State's campus for commercial film and video shoots. This area includes video and DVD production, web site design, photography and print publications design.  This area is also a resource for the graphic identity and publications style guidelines.
  • News Services gains state and national print media coverage for programs and people of NC State. It also keeps NC State faculty and staff informed through the weekly periodical, The Bulletin, which is also available online. The office distributes news releases to all local, state and national media.
