Academic Opportunities for University Scholars
In order to successfully complete the USP, Scholars are required to complete 12 hours of approved coursework by the time they graduate. The following may be used to complete this requirement:

• Honors sections (courses with an "H" suffix)
• Honors Contract courses. Please note: The Honors Contract will be used by all students wishing to earn honors credit through enriched work in regular courses. The deadline for submission of signed Honors Contract forms is the 10th day of classes each semester.
• First Year Inquiry (FYI) courses (courses with an "Q" suffix) (for first year students)
• 500-Level (or higher) courses   
• Study abroad courses.  Please note: Students may use up to six credits of study abroad course work to complete their 12 hours.
• Certain Independent Study and Research courses. Please note: Students may use up to six credits of approved Independent Study/Research course work to complete their 12 hours.
