Admissions
Incoming high school students are automatically invited to join the University Scholars Program (USP) after they have been accepted to the university, otherwise they must apply to the program. Invitation materials are mailed starting in January. Please contact Sean Cassidy, Associate Director, at 919.513.3984 to determine if you will be automatically invited or if you should apply.

First year students with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (3.75 for students in CALS and Engineering) after their first semester at NC State are invited to join the USP mid-year and begin the program in the spring.

The University Scholars Program is geared toward new freshmen, as they will have enough time at NC State to complete the requirements of the program and they are more likely to benefit from the residential component of the program. Transfer student and upperclassmen applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact Sean Cassidy, Associate Director, at 919.513.3984 for more information.
