Opportunities

There are many opportunities for WISE women to get involved in WISE, elsewhere on campus and in the community, including conferences, community service, K-12 outreach, leadership, mentoring, study abroad, workshops, etc. Below is information on some of those opportunities:

Conferences

LEAD 2008
Saturday, February 23, 2008
Mt. Olive College (Mount Olive, North Carolina)

This statewide NCCPA leadership conference will allow you to meet students from across North Carolina, and it offers informative workshops, meaningful service projects and engaging speakers. It is a one-day conference. WISE is offering to sponsor 10 WISE Village residents to attend the conference for free! We will provide transportation and pay the registration fee, which includes lunch and materials.  More information about registration will be coming shortly.

K-12 Outreach

We are always looking for volunteers for K-12 Outreach, which includes things like tutoring, judging science fairs, helping teachers, working with high school student organizations, recruiting, etc.

Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) is a conference designed to expose sixth and seventh grade girls in NC to successful role models in the science, engineering and mathematics fields. The conference is scheduled for March 5th (note that this is during NCSU's Spring Break). Volunteers are needed! If you'd like to volunteer, e-mail the WISE Director.
