Accessing your Live Quarantine via IMAP
Customers can access their live quarantine from their GroupWise mailbox by creating an IMAP account which points to the M+Guardian server. From this IMAP account you can do the following:
- View a message to determine if it is legitimate by double clicking on it.
- Release a legitimate message from quarantine by dragging it from your quarantine folder to your active mailbox.
- Delete one or more messages from your quarantine by selecting the message and pressing the delete key. After the message has been deleted, it will be shown with a strike thru. To remove the messages permanently from the “incoming” folder, right click on the folder name and choose Empty deleted items.
How to Create an IMAP SPAM Folder:
- Launch GroupWise.
- Choose Accounts then choose Account Options.
- In the Accounts dialog box, choose Add.

- In the Create Account dialog box for the Account name: enter M+Quarantine. In the Account type: choose IMAP4 and then click Next>.
- In the Create Internet Account dialog box, enter the following:
- For “Incoming mail server (IMAP4)” enter the following: gw.ncsu.edu
- For “Login name:” enter your loginID@gw.fis.ncsu.edu .
- Click in (or Tab to) the “Outgoing mail server (SMTP):” and the information is automatically filled in.
- Click in (or Tab to) “E-mail address:” and it will automatically be filled in.
- Type your name on the “From name:” line. Click Next> .
- In the Create Internet Account dialog box, verify that Connect through my local area network (LAN) is chosen, then click Next > .
- On the Create IMAP folder dialog box, you may type in a Description such as Live Quarantine and then click Finish.
The M+Quarantine folder should now be visible in your GroupWise mailbox.
If you have a password on your Groupwise mailbox, you will be prompted to enter it in the Logon box. When you enable Save password on the login box, you will automatically access your live quarantine.
To view the items in the live quarantine, open the M+Guardian folder, then the spam folder, and the incoming folder.
