Women's Week Programs

We celebrate women everyday at the Women’s Center, and we want you to join in the celebration during March every year as we highlight and acknowledge women as part of Women’s History Month. Join us for a weeklong series that will allow you to learn more about gender issues and how to support women. Some of the programs we have held in the past during Women’s Week are listed below:

Beauty: Inside and Out

Recently moved to Women’s Week in March Beauty: Inside & Outside is an evening to relax, pamper, and simply enjoy yourself.  This program offers a variety of activities to help women relax, enjoy the company of other women, eat some healthy and not-so healthy goodies, and maybe even win some door prizes. You can learn more about your body and the importance of taking care of it, learn about the importance of spiritual wellness, and have your picture drawn by a caricature artist, relax with a chair massage, make a greeting card, or enjoy several other activities.

Breast Casting

A breast casting is a 3-dimensional work of art created through the application of plaster-of-paris strips to a woman’s nude torso. Breast casting is done as a creative outlet to celebrate the female form and promote breast health awareness. All persons who identify as female are welcome and encouraged to join us as participants or volunteers! Registration is not required by highly encouraged to ensure space and participation in program. There is a fee involved to cover supplies. The program occurs in March during Women’s Week.

The Vagina Monologues

Hailed by The New York Times as “funny” and “poignant,” Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues dives into the mystery, humor, pain, wisdom, outrage, and excitement buried in women’s experiences. The cast consists of NC State students, faculty and staff. The Vagina Monologues is produced by The Women’s Center every other year. Our next production will be held in the spring of 2008 with auditions to be held late in the fall 2007 semester.
