Campus Resources
This information is provided as a resource guide to help students navigate through the variety of services that are available to a sexual assault survivor, both on and off campus.
Campus Police: 911 (on-campus) or 919-515-3000 from an off-campus/cell phone
Campus Police can assist sexual assault survivors by taking a report and completing a full investigation into the reported crime. Campus Police also has full-time investigators who are specially trained to work with rape and sexual assault victims and survivors.

Women’s Health is located on the 2nd floor of Student Health Services. A Gynecologist and two Family Nurse Practitioners staff it. NCSU women can be seen for complete physical exam and pap test, menstrual problems, contraceptive management, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, treatment of urinary tract infections, STD testing and treatment, preconceptional counseling, menopause and perimenopausal management, abnormal pap evaluation and treatment including colposcopy, LEEP and cryotherapy. Women’s Health is also available to meet the physical and emotional needs of a rape victim/survivor. The staff is also available for various programs as noted on the Women’s Health website.

Emergency/crisis counseling 24 hours a day, every day of the year (walk-in during regular hours - 2nd floor Student Health building; outside of regular hours call 515-3333 and request that the "Counselor on Call" be paged)
Individual counseling, generally short-term in nature, with referrals offered as appropriate
Academic assistance with late withdrawal and late course drop requests, and other academic situations, as appropriate
Groups are available depending on student need/interest
Resources are provided for other services available on and off campus
Consultation with partners/friends/family/professors of survivors to assist in supporting the survivor, with short-term counseling available for those that are registered NCSU students
Outreach programs for student groups can be requested on issues around sexual assault

Interact, located near campus at 612 Wade Avenue, is a non-profit United Way Agency that provides services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. Services that are provided include short-term counseling, court assistance, support groups, information and referrals, and the S.A.F.E Center (see below for more information).
S.A.F.E Center: (919) 828-3067
The S.A.F.E Center (Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Center), located at WakeMed, is a designated area for the forensic examination and treatment of survivors of rape and sexual assault.
The purpose of the S.A.F.E. Center is:
- To gather evidence that can be used to prosecute rape cases collected in a private, confidential and safe location by a trained forensic nurse examiner.
- To provide survivors of rape and sexual assault the opportunity to access support services from and Interact Advocate.
- To provide law enforcement with the opportunity to begin their investigation without delay.
When a survivor arrives at the S.A.F.E. Center, he or she will receive support from a nurse examiner, and Interact Advocate, and a law enforcement officer. The law enforcement office and the nurse examiner will interview the survivor, and then a forensic nurse examiner will take him or her to an examination room to complete the Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit. The evidence is collected to aid in the prosecution of the perpetrator and is turned over to the City County Bureau of Identification. The evidence collection process includes taking samples of blood, body fluid and hair. The nurse will keep the survivor’s clothing if it was worn at the time of the assault. After the examination, the survivor can take a shower at the S.A.F.E. Center and if necessary, will be provided a change of clothing.
An Interact Advocate is available throughout the entire process. Following the interview, the Interact Advocate will provide follow-up information on counseling, support groups and court advocacy or the survivor can make contact with Interact by calling 919-828-3005.

The Women’s Center manages the Molly Hays Glander Rape and Sexual Assault Response Line (919) 618-RAPE (7273). This 24-hour hotline serves as a resource for NC State students. The Advocates offer confidentiality, crisis information support, and provide resources and referrals for survivors of rape and sexual assault.
The Women’s Center also provides these services based on staff availability during normal business hours as well as a safe space to hang out between classes. Our lending library has a selection of books that may be helpful for survivors and their supporters during the healing process. Programs such as Take Back the Night help give voice to the violence while also educating the campus.

The Office of Student Conduct is available to survivors to discuss options under the Code of Student Conduct (Code). If a survivor chooses to pursue allegations under the Code, staff will provide education and guidance throughout the process. Additionally, Student Conduct can assist in identifying and connecting with appropriate resources in the community, both on and off campus.

University Student Legal Services - This office is available to inform the victim of all her/his legal options concerning the sexual assault. The office will go over the charges, the sentencing scheme and what the victim should expect from the investigation of the crime all the way up through the trial and sentencing. All information in this office is confidential. Should the victim decide to pursue the matter through the criminal justice system, this office will guide her/him through that system.

University Housing staff are trained to assist survivors with a variety of concerns and directs students to necessary resources (i.e. medical, counseling, etc.). Survivors should contact their Resident Advisor (RA), Resident Director (RD) or Assistant Director for assistance.
