Associate Professor of Graphic Design Scott Townsend will be doing an exhibition including the dual site-specific piece “Your Imaginary Country, the Berlin Wall and the Southwest Border Initiative” at the University gallery.
“Your Imaginary Country, the Berlin Wall and the Southwest Border Initiative” was originally presented in Berlin and was intended to juxtapose two geographical sites (Berlin, Germany and a location on the southwest border in the United States) to garner audience reaction to the comparison between the two sites as a phenomenon of social containment and identity. The work is online and uses audience submissions to create visual comparisons and information in the work. By citing the piece in the southwest, the audience response will be completed.
