The magic of fireflies. ✨

Under the darkness of night, three-time alumnus and entomologist Clyde Sorenson has turned his childhood hobby into a career, pursuing what could be a new species of firefly.

For more than two decades, Sorenson has taught ENT 201, an introductory @ncstatecals course. He figures he’s taught more than 8,000 students about arthropods and exoskeletons.

There are thousands of species of fireflies in the world, and about three dozen live in North Carolina. 💡🔗 But none of those are what he’s looking for. Dive into his hunt for a new species at the link in our bio. #ThinkAndDo #NCStateMag
POV: You’re seeing the wine label you designed on the bottle for the first time. 🤩 @ncstatedesign student Anastacy Golovidov’s label is featured on the officially licensed Lake Raleigh Woods wine, which was released at the end of September. The limited-edition red blend, made in partnership with @Shelton_Vineyards, is the fourth wine in the Hallowed Places Collection. 🍷

One of the key considerations in the design process was ensuring that the label fit into the existing collection. “The approach was to really take the photo and be creative with it and present it in the best aspect possible while keeping the other characteristics the same as the collection,” Anastacy said. The first label was designed by Carter Avayou, who was also a College of Design student at the time.

A portion of all sales supports student scholarships at NC State. Previously released NC State licensed wines have already contributed thousands of dollars in student assistance. 🙌 #ThinkAndDo
Meet the Moores. 🐺🐾

Alana Moore is set to earn her @ncstatechass degree this spring, exactly 40 years after her family’s NC State story began. Then, she’ll be the fourth woman in her family to become an NC State alumna. 👏

As this year’s NC State Family of the Year, they celebrated on campus last week during @ncstatepfs’ annual Parents and Families Weekend.
