Due to the limits of state and federal funding, public universities depend increasingly on donor funds to maintain and enhance the quality of their teaching, research, and other services to the community. These gains also benefit students and alumni by helping to secure the standing of their degrees. The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies always welcomes donations, no matter how modest, in support of its work. All donations are tax-deductible.
If you are interested in discussing the possibility of a donation, a larger gift, a deferred gift, or a named endowment to support something close to your heart, please contact Michael Pendlebury at firstname.lastname@example.org or (919) 515-6103.
The Department has two standing funds that are always open for donations:
The Philosophy and Religious Studies Student Awards Fund was launched in March 2011. As a result of the Bryan Family Gift in July 2015, we achieved our initial goal of raising $25,000. This made it possible to convert the fund into an income-earning endowment that will provide permanent support for student awards in Philosophy and Religious Studies, including prizes in honor of distinguished emeritus faculty who made major contributions to the Department's development. We now seek to raise the fund to a higher level. A list of donors to the fund appears below.
The Philosophy and Religious Studies Development Fund accepts donations that support all the Department's operations and activities according to need. At present, the fund is used mainly to support our visiting speaker programs.
We welcome one-time gifts, recurring gifts, and sustaining gifts. For more information, see "Making a Gift" below.
The Department is pleased to acknowledge a generous gift to the Philosophy and Religious Studies Student Awards Fund from the Bryan family made in July 2015 in honor of Professor Robert S. Bryan, a distinguished former Head of the Department.
The Bryan Family Gift made it possible to convert the Fund into an income-earning endowment, which will permanently secure NC State student awards in Philosophy and Religious Studies, including the Philosophy Prize in Honor of Professor Robert S. Bryan. This prize was established in 2011 in recognition of the crucial role played by Professor Bryan in building an excellent department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at NC State during his tenure as Head, from 1966 to 1989.
We welcome further donations to the Philosophy and Religious Studies Student Awards Fund.
