Chemistry Outreach Resources
This website describes all Chemistry Lecture Demonstrations available through the Department of Chemistry. Many of these demonstrations can be incorporated into outreach activities upon request.
These activities came from teacher training workshops that have been offered by The Science House since 1992. Activities are applicable to the NC Standard Course of Study and involve materials one can find in the household.
The Science House
The Science House is a science and mathematics learning outreach program of the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at NCSU. Their mission is to work in partnership with K-12 teachers to emphasize the use of hands-on learning activities in mathematics and science classes. The Science House provides a variety of in-house training and enrichment activities that reach students and teachers across North Carolina.
North Carolina Section - ACS
The North Carolina Section of the American Chemical Society is a network of local scientists in industry, government and academia. This website lists upcoming events, discussion groups and resources to local chemists.
Exploritorium, the museum of science, art and human perception is located in San Francisco. Their website offers numerous hands-on activities and other educational information for K-12 teachers.

The North Carolina Science Teachers Association (NCSTA) was formed in 1969 with the mission of promoting excellence in science teaching and learning in North Carolina. All science educators are encouraged to join NCSTA and attend the annual Professional Development Institute. This website also provides information on learning materials, awards, grants and professional development opportunities.
SciCentral is an online source for the latest research news in the various scientific fields from Bioscience to Engineering.
Chemsoc is for everyone interested in the chemical sciences - with events, features, links, educational materials plus the ever-popular Visual Elements Periodic Table and Timeline. ChemSoc is published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
CIBL & TASC
The Center for Inquiry-Based Learning supplies NSF-supported curriculum units, matched to the K-8 NC Standard Course of Study. CIBL offers professional development in the use of selected curriculum units, background information, and inquiry-based teaching techniques.
The North Carolina Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Center was launched in 2002 with support from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund. SMT offers programs and resources to K-12 teachers in an effort to improve science and mathematics education across the state.
