Amy Orders - Assistant Director and Radiation Safety Officer email@example.com
Amy has over 15 years of health and safety experience, originating in medical settings, expanding into industrial then academic venues.
She is also an adjunct faculty member in the NC State College of Education and the Recording Secretary of CSHEMA - a national campus health and safety association
Amy holds degrees in Radiologic Science, Radiologic Hygiene, Emergency Management and Health Occupations/Adult Education. She holds professional certifications in radiologic sciences.
Believing strongly in the partnership between safety and the community, Amy strives to develop grounded and practical service programs in support of research and academics. Evolving technologies and research methodologies continually challenge health and safety practices, forcing creative support mechanisms and leveraging resources to be most effective in our service efforts. Further, Amy believes it is in the best interest as health and safety professionals to embrace innovation and growth through networking, education and contemporary media; this is where today’s professionals look for pertinent information.
Holistically, Amy is an articulate, collaborative, solution-focused professional that infuses positive energy and a collegial spirit in all of her work. She is truly ingrained in the NC State community- a staff member, a faculty member and an alumnus.
Ralton Harris - Environmental Health Physicist firstname.lastname@example.org
Ralton has been the Environmental Health Physicist in the NCSU Radiation Safety Division since September 1980. His primary responsibilities involve environmental monitoring for the PULSTAR Nuclear Reactor and the University’s low level radioactive waste sites, radioactive materials safety training and safety inspections of analytical x-ray instrumentation. He is the division contact person for matters related to these subject areas.
Ralton received a M.S. degree in physical/nuclear chemistry with a minor in nuclear physics and engineering math (NCSU 1980). He also completed post-graduate coursework in the Radiological Hygiene Program at UNC-Chapel Hill (1987-89).
His professional interests include studying the uncertainty contributions inherent in radiochemical metrology, and evaluating the efficacy of the rhodizonate ion, C6O62-, to effect the differential separation of mixed alkaline earth ionic species from solutions. His hobbies are family genealogy, World War II history reading and watching old science fiction and Western genre movies.

Lora is the Associate Radiation Safety Officer in the Environmental Health and Safety Center. She has over 30 years of radiation related experience in medical settings, education, and industry. Lora’s main focus at NCSU is oversight of safety involving radiation producing instruments through educational classes and regular surveys of instruments.
Reno A. Vello - Radiation Safety Specialist firstname.lastname@example.org
Reno has been a Radiation Safety Specialist with NCSU Radiation Safety since May of 2004, His primary duties include, but not limited to, RAD acceptance, process, and delivery of isotopes to NCSU laboratories, material approved laboratory inspection surveys, sealed source leak testing, and emergency and spill response.
Reno received his Environment Health & Safety degree in 1996 at CCCC of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He relocated to North Carolina immediately after graduation and has worked at NC State University since December of 1996. He began his employment with the Fire Protection Division and provided 8 yrs of service with them before joining the Radiation Safety team. Prior to working at NC State University, Reno brought with him 22 yrs of work Safety experience from the Pennsylvania coal fields.
Reno’s favorite past time is playing tennis, going to the beach, and spending time with family.

Brian Garner is the newest member of the radiation safety team. Brian graduated from East Carolina University with a Masters in Health Physics. He works with radioactive materials and x-ray devices.

Todd has been the Emergency Manager at EHS since 2007 and has been with Radiation Safety since 2003. His primary responsibilities include emergency planning and response, managing the University’s WolfAlert emergency notification system, hazardous materials security plans and managing the hazardous materials shipping program. He is the primary contact for inquiries on WolfAlerts, emergency communications, emergency planning, hazardous materials security planning and hazardous materials shipping.
