The main menu, located in the left column (Figure 1) is also displayed on all subsequent pages and allows you direct access to any section of your safety plan.
The Safety plan has been broken down into sections. Each section will be explained in more detail.
These sections include:
Process, Hazard & PPE List, Documents, Attachments, Similar Exposure Groups, Similar Exposure Groups, Target Chemical Listing, Security Checklist, Plan Signed & Ready for Approval, Overall Safety Plan.
You may select any item on this list to go directly to this section of your Safety Plan
The Checklist provides the PI with an overview of the current status of their safety plan. There are three (3) different stages of approval.
Not Approved - Modifications have been made to the plan by an authorized PI but have not been review or approved by the Safety manager.
Partially Approved - Portions of this section have been approved by the Safety Manager.
Approved - The Safety Manager has reviewed and approved all portions of this section.
Any time modifications are made to the Safety Plan the PI must go to the Final Signature page to certify and submit his requested modifications! ONLY AT THIS TIME is the Safety Manager alerted to the modifications requested to the plan. This allows the PI to make multiple changes prior to submission.
This is displayed as a Not Signed status.
The Overall Safety Plan will only be approved if all sections of the safety plan have been reviewed and approved by the Safety Manager. By selecting the "Current Plan" link in the menu bar the PI can view and print a "PDF" version of your last fully approved Safety Plan. A copy of this Plan must be maintained in your laboratory space, along with a printed copy of the Safety in Academic Chemistry Laboratories.
