The NC State community population includes nearly 8,000 faculty and staff, and 30,000 students who represent all 100 NC counties, 100 countries and speaking over 35 languages! With such a diverse population, how could there be enough resources available to satisfy everyone’s needs?

Capital-ize on Raleigh!

Step out your door and into the state capital of Raleigh, where history abounds, politics buzz, Hurricanes fans roar, the symphony soars and cultural events draw crowds of every shape and size.

According to US Census Bureau statistics, the July 1, 2005 population of Raleigh was 341,530, with a median age of 33.4 years. With a fairly young population, family issues such as schools, work-life balance and housing are at the forefront. From recreation to religion, summer camp to the symphony, child-care to elder-care, the NC State community offers resources and opportunities to all from age 2 to 102.

Research Triangle

World-wide research and technology enterprises such as SAS Institute, GlaxoSmithKline and IBM abound. Add the National Institute of Environmental Health Safety, the Environmental Protection Agency and major universities like UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, a host of other colleges and universities and suddenly you’re in the middle of a huge think tank!

The Piedmont/Triad Area

Asheboro, Winston-Salem and Pinehurst boast some of the best pottery, Old Salem, an awesome zoo and incredible golf!

From Murphy to Manteo

NC State is located just about right in the middle, with Murphy in the western mountains and Manteo on the coast. Asheville, Charlotte and Wilmington provide a wide variety of things to explore like the Appalachian Trail, professional sports, film, arts and music.
