PreLab Home

PreLab prepares you to get the most out of your lab. It consists of five questions for you to answer before you do the lab. An important advantage in doing PreLab is that your answers become the first draft for the Introduction of your lab report.

Directions: Click on the green button for (1) the type of lab you are doing (ask your lab instructor if you don't know) and (2) the mode you will use to answer the PreLab Questions.

Types of Labs

Standard Lab
A lab in which you establish and test a hypothesis. Most labs are of this type.

Descriptive Lab
A lab that does not use a hypothesis: you follow a procedure and report findings.

Student-Designed Lab
A lab that is based on an experiment that you design.

An online guide to use while writing your PreLab in a word processing program. Printable version available.

A hard-copy form to use to answer PreLab questions by hand or by copying the form and pasting into a word processing program.

An interactive application to use for answering PreLab questions online, especially if you will be writing your lab report in Tutor Mode.
