Update on item retrieval and website

Good morning,

As we move into the latter part of the spring semester, we want to again share our thanks for your patience and flexibility as we work to learn more about Poe Hall. While the testing and evaluation processes are ongoing, we remain committed to getting answers to questions you may have. Today, we are writing to share with you brief updates related to the Poe Hall Updates website and item retrieval.

We’ve recently updated the questions and answers section of the Poe Hall website with questions we’ve received from the community. Information on how to submit questions is included on this webpage. Additional questions and answers will be added to the website as we gather more information. We encourage you to take a moment to review the information throughout the website and continue to refer to it for updates and information.

In particular, we’ve received questions about items that remain in the building. In the interest of completing the evaluation process as quickly as possible, we need to pause any further item retrieval. Once testing is completed and recommendations are made about any needed mitigation measures in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency, we will revisit plans for retrieving remaining items.

We recognize that some items that are still in the building have sentimental value, and not having them may add to your level of concern while we’re in this testing and evaluation period. We apologize for the delay in retrieving your belongings, and we want to assure you that when we are able to get them to you, we will.

We thank you for your continued patience as we move forward — this process takes time, and we’re hopeful that we’ll have more information about the building environment to share with you soon.

Thank you.
